Could silver fillings be irritating my tongue?

Over the last several months I have had lower jaw molars filled with silver fillings. My previous dentist always used the white, but my current dentist prefers the silver. Anyway, I have developed small white spots on the side of my tongue. The spots match up exactly where the fillings are on both sides. Coincidence?

Could silver fillings be irritating my tongue?
It definitely could be an allergy. Call you dentist and he may have to replace the amalgam filling with the composite (white) ones.
Reply:Let your Dentist know. You could be alergic to the mercury. Silver might last longer in the long run
Reply:If your tongue is rubbing up against the silver fillings, especially if the fillings feel rough or you can feel the edge of them, it might have brought on a callous on your tongue just like you get on the bottoms of your feet. This can happen even if you have tooth-colored fillings if they are not properly placed into your tooth and adjusted so that you do not feel them at all in your mouth. See your dentist again and have him check to make sure that the fillings are smooth and flush with your teeth so that they no longer draw the attention of your tongue into that area. Maybe the white spots will go away after that.
