Fillings - amalgam or composite?

I have cavities in a few molars, what is the best type of fillings to get in these teeth and why?

Fillings - amalgam or composite?
for molars its ideal to go for amalgam filling than composite .being a dentist , i advice amalgam for molars. reason is composite filling shows some sensitivity eventhough its done carefully by isolating. moreover even the tube light in the room may affect the composite filling so that the person may feel discomfort through out.but amalgam is very easy to fill in, doesnot show sensitivity , expect that it is black in color.
Reply:Composite fillings are the way to go. Amalgam fillings can cause cracks in your natural tooth, making it so you would have to get a crown done later in life. Plus, composite fillings are more natural looking.
