Fillings; painfull at all?

So last month, I went to the dentist in the 1st time in 14 years, and got a tooth extraction the very next day. I pretty much conquered my dental phobia. Tomorrow I'm going in to get some fillings done most likely, and I'm getting the jitters. Does it hurt at all? The shot didn't hurt when I got my tooth pulled, or the procedure as a whole for that fact....so maybe I just need to chill....

Fillings; painfull at all?
If you aren't worried about getting a novacaine shot, then you have nothing to worry about. They don't inject it into the gum either, they inject it in the cheek high up.

Honestly, it doesn't hurt at all. Getting a cavity filled is nothing compared to getting a tooth pulled (and usually if you have a good dentist, getting a tooth pulled doesn't hurt). It is also relatively fast too. It only took about an hr to get 4 cavities filled, keep in mind that was from the check in time, laughing gas getting ready to work, and the novacaine shots starting to kick in. I use laughing gas because I have anxiety, and it really calms me down. The drilling only takes a few minutes, and so does the actual filling. The only part takes the longest is waiting for the filling to dry and waiting for the novacaine to kick in.

So, no pain at all :)
Reply:SHOULDN'T BE AS LONG AS YOU GET IT NUMBED.
Reply:they give you Novocaine. it doesn't hurt.
Reply:Well, if the shot doesn't hurt, there will be absolutely no pain. If the shot hurts, thatll be about it. Don't worry, its nothing compared to a root
Reply:Filling dont hurt at all but just take a advil before just in case ur dentist is wierd and makes it hurt. But just chill im getting my fillings tommrow. So its ok.
Reply:Nope, they don't hurt. I got 2 done a couple of weeks ago and did them without getting numbed. They were small though but I'm sure that if the drilling didn't bother me when i was NOT numbed, then it wouldn't bother you while numbed. I have a HUGE phobia and I did fine and so will you, just relax and take an ipod =)
Reply:To me, the shots are the most painful part of getting a filling. So, if you don't have an issue with that, I think you'll be fine.

Wish I knew your secret, I can't stand that needle coming at my mouth :)
Reply:it will be fine the injection numbs all the nerves so you dont fell anything all you feel is pushing where they are doin the drilling (which is tiny and you wont feel a thing) hope it helped
