White composite fillings turned yellow?
The bonding materials used for front tooth fillings have improved over the years, but they still can begin to wear and stain over time. Many times, the fillings need to be changed for esthetics or if they begin to leak around the edges. Leakage can allow bacteria in and behind the filling, causing a cavity to develop and sometimes staining. Another thing to consider would be if you have bleached your teeth. Your teeth will whiten but the filling will stay the same color. This will cause the filling to not match as well and appear more yellow. Your dentist can make sure that there is no cavity and give you options for treatment.
Reply:I'm pretty sure you need to go back to the dentist and probably have him replace the filling or put in more composite. I had a crown on my front tooth, noticed it was starting to yellow a bit, talked to the dentist and wondered if just whitening it would work. She said you can't just whiten it.
Reply:COMPOSITES WILL EVENTUALLY LOSE THEIR "WHITENESS" OVER TIME.

BLEACHING HAS NO EFFECT AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. DRINKING SODA W/O A STRAW AND DRINKING WINE CAN BE DELETERIOUS TO COMPOSITES.
