Has anyone had any problems resulting from fillings???

I had 2 filling done mid december. Since then ive had a throat infection that hasnt seemed to clear. Im on my third course of antibiotics now. I have this horrible taste in my throat/jaw area. When i got the fillings done i had a chat with a classmate who recogns some people can have mild to moderate problems cause of fillings. I didnt really think much of it at the time but im getting thinking about it now cause this infection wont go away and im noticing the taste seems to be strong around my jaw area on the side where the 2 fillings are. Has anyone had any similar problems or is it possible to have such problems with fillings??? I dont know what the filling is made of but it is grey/silver kind of colour. Any feedback would be appreciated. Cheers

Your fillling is metal. Metal fillings have been around for many many years.

The wierd taste would not be from the metal filling. If the tooth is now infected you would be in severe pain in the tooth, and possably have a foul odor/taste in your mouth.

My guess is you picked up a bug around the time of your filling. But if your tooth starts hurting bad I would go back and see your dentist asap. Last thing you want is an infected tooth left untreated and then you end up needing a root canal, or extraction.

Best Of Luck!
Reply:Grey silver fillings are amalgam fillings. I have many fillings and sometimes they take time to "settle down" and in the meantime toothache is common. When they are new they can give off a kind of metallic taste. If it goes on, I would definitely go back to the dentist and complain.
Reply:Deffinitely be careful and keep tabs on that kind of stuff. I had a friend who almost died due to traces of lead in her fillings--beleive it or not. Not something to mess around with, thats for sure.
