I had 4 fillings put in on Friday and since Friday I had a very bad earache that I have had since then. I take Ibufon or whatever that is called and it helps a lot. I was wondering if you guys think that my fillings are what is causing the earache and if it will go away. Thanks for any help. I had 3 fillings on the bottom left side of my face and 1 on the top left side. Also I was wondering how long it takes for the fillings to get used to them because it feels like a hard bump when i bite down to eat. Thanks again for any help.
Earache after 4 fillings?
It could be jaw pain radiating into your ear from having so much work done on your teeth.
Reply:Ashley is partially right. Everyone will have residual pain after any type of dental work. Drill anywhere on your body and it's going to hurt. I would say the biggest problem is that the bite on the fillings is off. From you saying that you feel a "hard lump" when you bite down I would guess thats it. Imagine your teeth have been hitting top and bottom a certain way your whole life and now its different. Every time you talk or chew anything they are banging together wrong. Count how many times a day that is...figures why they hurt huh. If you remember towards the end of your procedure the dentist should have had you tap your teeth together repeatedly. He was having you do this to check the bite. Problem is that you were numb so it was very hard for you to tell. Its a very common problem that is easily fixed. No need to get numb since he is just adjusting the filling so you will easily be able to tell when it feels good. Once that "bump" is gone and your teeth hit right again the pain up your face should subside.
