I recently started seeing a new doctor. I've had on going head aches for 12 years now, on a daily basis. Usually i end up taking 2 doses of Excedrin a day. Some times it helps, sometimes it doesn't. Doctors can't figure out why i've got them. I've been told its TMJ, stress, an allergy, you name it. I've been taken of wheat, dairy, caffeine, starches. Nothing has stopped them. My new doctor practices in alternative medicine. I have quite a few silver fillings, and got my first one around the time when my head aches started. He said that silver fillings are 52% Mercury and should come out. Replace all of them with the white fillings. Once that is done, he will give me a shot to take all the Mercury out of my body.
Has anyone done or heard of this? I want to get all the input and research before i resort to something this drastic for a head ache.
Silver Fillings Causing Head Aches????
Warning: long answer below! ;-)
(if this answer gets cutoff for being too long, send me an email)
I feel your pain! I had all of my mercury fillings removed six years ago because I value my health and believe the claims of all the health hazards associated with them. I've had headaches most of my life, but interestingly, my headaches got worse (became daily, as you describe) after I had the fillings removed (and I had them "properly" removed by a biological dentist).
In my case, I believe the increase in headaches is either because I didn't do enough detoxing of the mercury afterwards (bad decision), and/or because it's actually my TMJ causing the headaches (possibly from a misaligned jaw/bite). I've also recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, which also have headaches as a symptom, and which apparently can be caused by mercury toxicity.
I am now working with a dentist who specializes in TMJ and mercury detoxification, so we are going to cover all the bases to find out what is causing the headaches.
The "shot" your doctor is talking about might be an intraveneous Vitamin C drip, which is one of the protocols used to detox your body from the mercury after the fillings are removed.
You've taken a great first step in finding an alternative medicine doctor, and the next step is to do your research. I've included some sites in the "sources" section below.
If, after your research, you decide to go forward with removing your mercury fillings, find a "biological" dentist who has been specifically trained in the proper removal of mercury fillings. Going to a "mercury-free" dentist is not enough; they have to be trained in the proper removal protocol. It has to be done the right way, and with the right replacement filling materials for you, or you could end up with worse symptoms afterwards.
I hope something in my answer is helpful. Whatever you do, don't give up searching for relief for your headaches; look at all the possibilities and options. I've already had some significant success with my new dentist, so if I can get relief, so can you!
Reply:You're welcome, Chrissy! I hope you, your dentist and your new doctor can work together to free you of your headaches and pain. :-)
All the best,

Reply:Absolutely I have heard of it. Lots of people are turning to porcelain and other types of filings. This has been going on for many many years. Google it and read about it. It is a bit expensive to have the removal, and refil, but worth it. They have to do some extra stuff to protect your mouth and system when the old filing comes out. Alternative dentestry. It can just about save your life. I know nothing about the shot. Do some research on that.
Reply:I believe you are on the right track. Mercury, no matter what mainline feeling is, is a very toxic substance. They can be causing your headaches and especially as you experienced this after getting the first filling with amalgam. I had all mine removed in the 80's my dentist did it but kept making fun of me. 5 years later he was the leading dentist in the area encouraging people to remove the amalgam. He went to many seminars and studied up on it and he found that removing the amalgam improved the health of the patient. You also need to detoxify your liver. There are many natural supplements to do this. I used to have bi weekly migranes. After amalgam removal and detoxification I rarely get one.
The liver detox below is just one i know of that works but I have nothing to do with this company.
