Toothache after fillings? Did my dentist screw up?

A couple months ago, I got "deep" fillings in two of my wisdom teeth plus fillings in the two adjacent teeth. The dentist was trying to convince me to have the wisdom teeth extracted, but they have never caused me pain so I didn't go for it. That is, never until I got the fillings! The pain was constant immediately after the fillings. By now, it's not constant anymore but it comes everyday. Can be brought on by cold or even a glass of room-temperature water! Sometimes, it seems to start by itself. Brushing or touching the actual teeth do not hurt. A friend who had fillings in her wisdom teeth told me that she also had sensitivity afterward and her dentist had warned her about it. But hasn't this gone on too long? My dentist did not warn me at all. I hate him at this point! Did he screw something up? I never had toothaches before these dam* fillings, and never had the sensitivity to cold before, so it seems to be related to something he did. Should I go back to him? Can this be fixed?

Toothache after fillings? Did my dentist screw up?
i say he did mess up- nerves should have settled in 2 weeks or so--wisdom teeth should have been pulled-try sensodyne for pain will take a few brushing see if that helps with pain-its only covering a problem need to talk to another dentist
Reply:He probably didn't do anything wrong. The nerve just needs time to "settle down." That's what they call it.
Reply:try using clove oil, if pain persist go back to him.
Reply:Go back to him or another Dentist.
Reply:Yes, he drilled too far into your nerve. You will probably need a roor canal to remove the nerve in the affected tooth. I had that happen to me. I just removed my wisdom tooth.
Reply:Removing the decay traumatizes the nerves. I think the only screw up is that the dentist didn't refuse to fill them. I would have never filled them. You wouldn't have gotten cavities if you were able to keep them clean. The cavities get bigger in those teeth and end up killing the nerve, then what? A root canal? Of course they didn't "bother you" but it was only a matter of time. You should have gotten the wisdom teeth out. Hate the dentist all you like. He was at least trying to do what you wanted.
