Favorite quiche fillings?

Bacon and swiss cheese, for one.

Also, veggies with cheddar cheese.

I am going to be fixing a few quiches and wanted some new ideas for fillings. I don't need a whole recipe, unless it's something really bizarre as most quiches are the basic egg mixture.

Thanks!

Reply:I took a basic quiche recipe %26amp; changed it into an Italian quiche.

I first squeeze out of the casing 1-2 Italian sausage %26amp; crumble it up while browning it well.

Set aside on paper towel %26amp; drain.

I use mozzarella cheese or a combination bag of a Italian shredded 4 cheese.

I also have at times added some chopped onion partially cooked also diced green or red pepper same way. I added a small can of drained mushrooms if you like them. A small sprinkle of sweet basil or oregano.

Same crust, same amount of eggs, flour milk.

4 large eggs

3/4 cup milk or cream (I like cream, makes it richer)

1 lb Italian sausage or chorizo sausage

1 (4 ounce) can green chilies, chopped

1/2 cup chopped onions

1 teaspoon cumin

1 teaspoon chili powder

1 teaspoon pepper

1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

deep dish pie shells

sour cream

shredded lettuce

tomatoes, cut into wedges

6-8 servings

1. Poke holes in the crust with a fork and pre-bake 10 minutes.

2. Fry the sausage with the onion and spices until the onion is tender.

3. Layer meat, green chilies and cheese into crust.

4. Mix eggs and milk/cream together in a bowl with a bit of salt.

5. Pour over meat mixture in the crust Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes or until a knife in the middle comes out clean.

6. Cut into wedges and top with lettuce, sour cream and a tomatoe wedge.

7. Serve with salsa if desired.
Reply:You picked the classics for sure! Have you tried Cheddar and mushroom or caramelized onion? Tuna and sweetcorn sounds insane but is actually quite nice. Broccoli and a strong cheese also make a nice flan, just add the ingredients as you would for cheese and ham etc. Hope I have given you some tasty ideas to try! Bonn apatite!

That can't be spelled right, oh well ne'er mind!
