Mercury poisoning from Amalgam (Silver) Fillings?

I'm 31 years old and for the first time in my life I got 3 amalgam fillings back in August of 2006. In September I started feeling sick with symptoms like post nasal drip and headaches, earaches. All of this I attributed to a Sinus/Ear infection which I have just started to finally get rid of. In addition to those symptoms I also get nauseated as soon as I started chewing my food, a burning/tingling sensation in my lips and cheeks, and sometimes I can feel this burning spasm like pain in different areas of my scalp/head more so at times when I'm lying down. I've had anxiety/panic attacks at night. I've always been a calm person and now at least once a week I have trouble sleeping and experience trouble breathing, dizziness, trembling, and weak heavy legs when the anxiety begins.

I ran across a site that talked about mercury poisoning from fillings and I'm wondering has this done something to my body to start making me ill. Anyone have any knowledge on this?

Do not rule out the possibility that your changes are sue to something else in your life. Consider consulting with a physician for a complete evaluation. I'd hate to see you overlook something serious while thinking it's all due to your fillings.
Reply:Good. You know, I am not saying that it is simply impossible that there is a connection between your new fillings and your new ailments, but I amjust saying that it would be wrong to overlook other, more likely possibilties. Report It

Reply:Return to your dentist immediately and outline the symptoms you have described. You need those fillings removed right now!
Reply:Go to your Doctor first, incase there's any medication you need. Your physician will be able to prescribe anything you may need. Not all Dentists can write Rx's for certain drugs. Do see your dentist and schedule a time to get those out, amalgam allergies happen rapidly when they do happen.
Reply:It is not likely to be mercury poisoning from an amalgam filling. The mercury content is extremely low, you'd be more likey to have mercury poison from eating fish. If anything our bite may be off. Perhaps the fillings are too high causing many off the symptoms you are describing. I would call your dentist, explain your concerns %26amp; have she/he check it out. If you go in have your dentist adjust your bite %26amp; nothing changes in 2 weeks, call your medical Dr. However I would not think of this as mercury posioning as I have actually NEVER seen this since dentists no longer use the old fashioned "mixing our own" amalgam, they come in capsules now that are mixed by an amalgamator.
Reply:It is not very likely that you are suffering any kind of poisoning from the mercury, I would recommend seeing the dentist again to make sure the fillings didn't go to deep and bother the nerve of your teeth. Upper teeth can be extremely sensitive if you are having sinus problems. If I were to guess I'd say you have been grinding you teeth while you sleep, clench your jaw and feel the muscles and ligaments around your jaw and open and close your jaw a few times, you should be able to push as hard as you want on those muscles without causing pain also feel the muscle next to your temple while you do the clenching if that is sore you're definatley clenching and grinding in your sleep. If those muscles are sore try a soft sport splint from the drug store see if that helps before buying an expensive one from the dentist. Another possibilty is that the fillings dont fit your bite properly, amalgam is a softer material so this isnt likely the case but bite down and see if you hit the teeth with the new fillings first. If so your dentist will need to adjust the fillings. Hope this helps!
Reply:no you don't have mercury poisining. i know this cuz i am a dentist. research was done on amalgam fillings and they found out that u need to have AT LEAST 100 amalgam fillings in your mouth to start suffering from mercury poisoning . i.e , if u have all 32 teeth in your mouth filled u still won't get poisoned . i suggest u see a therapist for your panic attack cuz burning sensations in the mouth and other areas is also attributed to psychosis.
