Teeth replacement/fillings....?

teeth replacement/fillings from the view of skill usings in medical biophysics...

what does it mean?

Teeth replacement/fillings....?
Well I dont get all of this sentense, but from biophysic perspective, a filling is placed in heck of a stressfull place for an artificial material to be. Its always wet, can get from very very cold to very very hot (ice cream and coffee), sometime acid, etc. Thus the material must not rust, be resistant to acid, and at the same time, be of constant dimention (a material in cold environment shrink and one in hot environment dilate.. si if if does so differently from the tooth, when it shrink, there will be a space between the filling and the tooth and the cavity can start back.. It it does dilate more than the tooth, it can crack the tooth.

This material also have to be electrically stable in liquids (else if there is 2 different metals in a liquid like a saliva, you can create a battery and get chocks (which sometime happen with the metal fillings, but not with gold.

It should also be a termic isolant, to reduce sensityvity to cold/hot conducted to the nerve in the tooth.

As you see its quite difficult to create a perfect material for this environment!

The best one we have so far is gold.
