Right! It's just getting too expensive buying lunch EVERY day when at work so I'm going to buy some bread and get some fillings that I can keep in the fridge at work and make at lunchtime... any suggestions??
What sandwich fillings do you suggest??
Slices of cold meat such as ham, beef, salami, chicken- or turkey loaf, polonies [I think in the US they call it bologne?].
Lettuce, tomatoes, onions and cucumber.
Cheeses of your choice.
Keep tins of tuna, mayonnaise, salt and pepper.
Take a boiled egg to work and add to sandwich.
Keep yogurt [if you like it] in the fridge.
If you like spreads [I don't], then you can keep livertubes, sanwdwich spread, bovril/marmite, peanut butter, jam, syrup/honey, anchovies, etc. as well if you don't feel like "building" a sandwich.
Hope this helps! I have the same problem with lunch....
ADD: just thought, you can also make it more interesting by buying different kinds of rolls and bread. Pita pockets are also nice.
Reply:Tuna mayonnaise with cucumber or sweetcorn on a toasted bagel... relatively healthy and oh so delicious...
Reply:egg and lettuse is always nice and easy
Reply:Delhi sliced meats
Reply:Avocado, liverwurst, and munster cheese sandwich. Pure Ambrosia... yum.
Reply:Ham is good!
Reply:Some lettuce, sliced tomatoes, cheese, and salami. Great light sandwich good for people looking to lose weight. The ingredients are easy to get and don't stink up the community fridge at work.
Reply:Tuna, Mayo and Sweetcorn. Cheap, can be made in bulk and then kept in fridge and is damn tasty!
Also, sliced chicken, bit of mayo and some small pieces of apple and walnut make a truly delicious sandwich!
Reply:cheese savoury, corned beef savoury, egg mayo(might stink your fridge out a bit though!)
Reply:if you get tired of sandwiches you could buy some tuna cups, crackers n cheese and yogurt or bagged salad just to have something different on hand....don't forget PBJ...i like goober grape (pb and jelly in same jar) on whole wheat bread...
Reply:heaps of lettuce wiv salami (sopresso) and semidried tomatoes...on wholegrain bread....mmmmmm
Reply:tuna with mayo and sweetcorn, lettuce and onion or
ham with turkey or
chicken with cucumber and tomato
Reply:You can buy sandwich filler from most stores now ... things like, chicken tikka, egg may, tuna %26amp; sweetcorn, corned beef ... there's allsorts ... plus you could also pop some salad in a bag and put it in the sandwich when you make it too. I personally make my lunch in full before going to work and then put it in the fridge ... I make things like, chicken or tuna salad, Soup in a flask, sandwiches, mexican chicken tortilla's, pitta breads .... the only problem I find is being organised!!
Reply:along with sandwich fillings you can also take salads. When I do this I start with the basics like lettuce, cucumbers, celery, onion etc.... then I add some meat (usually it's leftovers), maybe a sliced boiled egg, other veggies, raisins, dried cranberries, pineapple what ever strikes my fancy. I wait until I'm ready to eat it before I put on the salad dressing.
Fillings for sandwiches - don't forget chopped chicken mixed with chopped pickle, chopped celery, mayonnaise and a little salt and pepper.
If you have a microwave don't forget to take leftovers!!
Get creative and you'll have office mates drooling when you have your lunch!!
Reply:ham swiss chesese pickle tomatoes
Reply:a nice ham(regular, honey, or smoked), lettuce, mustard and cheese. i could eat that every day. turkey is nice too.
if u can toast the bread at work..a nice toasted sanwich is honey with a slice of mozerella or cheddar, or mayo with tomato (lettuce too if u want)
salmon mixed up with mayo and add some sweet bread and butter pickles in the sandwich
this may sound weird but these are yummy:
cream cheese with one of the following cherries, sliced green olives or sliced gherkin pickles.
the only things is how spreadable the cream cheese is. if it is right out of the fridge it may be too hard
and peanut butter and honey, or peanut butter and banana
and lastly, how bout some sliced pepperoni, some spaghetti or pizza sauce, and grated cheese....for a pizza sandwich. just put your sauce in your own re-usable container
