Pink gel fillings - no drill ?

I remember hearing YEARS ago on the news that some new way of filling teeth was being developed, they didn't need to use drills and it was a bright pink gel.

I have never heard anymore about it. Does anyone know what i'm talking about? I think it would be a good idea.

I remember it well because I was scared of the dentist at that time so I thought I hope I don't need any fillings for a few years until that stuff is in use lol

Pink gel fillings - no drill ?
The pink fillings are a glass ionomer. It is a type of fluoride releasing filling. It is used over places of minor decalcification or over toothbrush abrasion. In order to fill an honest to goodness cavity, the infected part of the tooth still needs to be removed... with a drill.
Reply:think it was meant to dissolve the 'bad' area of tooth before being moulded and then fitted with an enamel filling
Reply:i think you mean by that pink gel CARIOSOLVE, It is a pink liquid that one or two drops of it will placed into the cavity and it is mainly a caries detector as it change the colour when it is in contact with decalcified tooth tissue(cavity), it is sometimes used in children and by use of some hand instrument not drill they try to remove all decayed parts .

but if you are scared of drill there are new techniques but obviously more expensive and not all dentist are using them, such as air abrasion or laser and if it is really painful you can also filll your teeth under sedation which let you sleep while the dentist is drilling your tooth
