Were my fillings even done right?

Almost 2 1/2 years ago, I had to get 7 fillings. (my father didn't take us to the dentist as he should've obviously). The left ones were done first, and I never had a problem with them - I was able to eat on them just fine within the following week, and have never had any pain eating on them.

However, when my right ones were done, it was completely different. After waiting to eat on them and then trying, I found that it was still very painful. I waited 6 weeks and called my dentist back, only to be told by his assistant it can take up to 8 weeks to be able to eat on it right again.

Coming up on 2 1/2 years now and I still cannot eat on it very well (absolutely nothing hard/crunchy, and nothing sweet). I am getting a new filling next month, but I am curious as to why it has been like this for so long.

Did the dentist not fill it right? I followed all instructions on care afterwards.

I am just curious and would like to know....Thank you for any insight.

I would definitely tell the dentist. If these were deep fillings they could be very close to the nerve which can cause pain. It's also possible that the filling is too high meaning you hit on that tooth when you bite. They can check your bite and adjust the filling accordingly.
Reply:Ask when you see him or her in a month. All teeth and fillings are NOT the same. There is a tooth paste that suppose to work for that.I have not tried it but,I have heard Sensodyne helps that issue.
