How long do white fillings last?
What is the maintenance on them?
DO they need to be fully replaced later?
White Fillings?
white fillings called composite fillings do last a long time care for them like your teeth...if they are on a fixed front tooth that was chipped then dont directly bite into hard foods it may break the restoration off...
they only need to be replaced if there decay/cavity that formed under the filling
Reply:To be totally truthful I have to tell you that the longevity of "white" filings is dependent on three things: (1) The expertise of the professional putting them in..(2) the kind of filing material used and (3) how well you provide hygienic services for them...And, if your a coffee/tea drinker or ardent smoker, most composites (white filings) will stain much quicker than they would under normal circumstances. Now. let me also say this, "if" your "white filings" aren't really filings but rather "Porcelain Inlays" , they will remain unstained for a much longer time and don't have the tendency to stain like a composite does. Good luck and I wish you well.
Reply:I got white fillings in my back teeth and they have been there for years without any problems.
Reply:Hi - I had any silver fillings replaced to white about 8 years ago, and they've been fine. When you go in for twice yearly check ups the dentist will check on how they're holding up. I do think it's possible they could need to be replaced in the future. Depends on several factors, though...
