I need some good ideas for sandwich fillings for my son's party which will go down a treat. Is it better to do something like chocolate spread or strawberry jam ones rather than cheese sandwiches.
Any other ideas for sandwiches will be greatly appreciated. My sons like marmite but not everyone else does and I would rather know the sandwiches will be eaten than left after the amount of time it takes to do them.
Sandwich fillings for childrens party?
Cheese %26amp; jam. Kids love it %26amp; it gets them eating cheese
Reply:Every single one of my daughter's friends like ham sandwiches, so I just tend to do mostly ham as they always get eaten. I don't tend do go down the sweet fillings route as they have mini rolls etc. after the savoury stuff.
If you're really not sure and don't want a lot of waste, what about buttering a load of those little tiny finger rolls (bridge rolls, I think they're called), and putting a plate of ham, a plate of dairylea triangles or cheese strings, and a plate of sliced cold sausages and letting the children assemble their own sandwiches? It's not as messy as it sounds and will mean that you haven't got a load of sandwiches left over. Plus kids love making their own food.
Good luck!
Reply:egg mayo? sausages?
Reply:Peanut butter? If they're old enough. The idea above of getting little rolls and letting them make their own is a brilliant one, even if some only eat the filling. Don't forget some carrot and cucumber sticks to go with them.
Reply:Don't go overboard with sandwiches, I've been left with loads before, lol. My kids are big now but I used to stuff like choc spread, marmite, cheese spread, ham. But have lots of nibblies because kids like to pick.
Reply:strawberry sandwiches peanutbutter or you could get your son to help make the sanwiches too, then hes more likeley to eat them.or instead of sandwiches make bagett pizza
get a french loaf cut from top to bottom to make your circles and your toppings such as tom puree cheese and ham,
Reply:A delicious and pretty sandwich served at our wedding reception was made of cream cheese, mixed with jam or maraschino cherries - whipped with a mixer until fluffy.
Reply:Ham%26amp;cheese, jam%26amp;peanut butter (make sure no one alergic to nut). Little wienie wrap in cresent dough, then bake. What interesting to them is make the sandwiches in different shapes (round, star, triangle.......I know it a lot more work for you but they will ejoy it).
Reply:i would stick to ham, cheese and then one sweet, like jam etc, not make to many (some children will eat sandwiches but not all bother at parties), I always use cookie cutters to cut the sandwiches into shapes, since i have done this more get eaten, but it does mean there is some waste to begin with (I let my kids eat this while i am preparing them) I get the kids to help with the cutting using the cookie cutters.
I never make many,( I use one loaf for 12 kids) I bulk the savoury food out with sausages, sausage rolls, cheese straws ect and I find a plate of savoury biscuits with small chunks of cheese always goes down well.
the sweet food will always go really quickly, so i put out all the savoury then bring out the sweet food once the savoury food has been out for a short while. This way, I find most of the kids will eat at least one savoury thing!
Hope this helps
Reply:Mmmm this is a tricky one.
The last party i had, just the ham ones were eaten. They more liked the sausage rolls, chunks of cheese, and crisps! You could always do like wraps and lay out cheese, ham etc so they can make their own.
If your making sandwiches cut them with cookie cutters so they are in shapes - makes it more appealling.
Im sure you will have all the sweet stuff eaten!!!! lol
Have a great time.
Reply:I would try chicken and lettuce, ham and cheese , plain tomato and of course fairy bread
Reply:grilled tuna and cheese sandwiches, egg salad with pickles
chili dogs
Reply:Cleanliness and children's hands on a sandwich buffet, not!
Not even too sure about grownups!
Ham on small dinner rolls. Packaged chips.
Mini pizzas on split canned biscuits or English muffins, sauce and cheese or just do a cheese pizza and cut into pieces.
Toasted cheese triangles.
Pigs in a blanket, small corn dogs, halved hot dogs...plain with fixings on side.
MIni hamburgers in dinner rolls, with/with out cheese.
Peanut butter and chocolate can be tricky since there might be food allergies and no child wants to be singled out when in a group.
Assuming cake, no necessity for sweet sandwich.
Ice cream, beverage.
Try doing the baked cake in flat ice cream cup for a cut new twist, ice and decorate or short fill and top with ice cream just before serving.
Depending on number of children may need to scoop ahead of time and place in freezer.
Can do small sundaes ahead of time; use small 3 ounce bathroom cups and place finished sundaes in freezer until ready to serve.
Ice cream sandwich and cool whip cake, serve in small bowls.
Older children, larger sandwiches and cups.
Just pick and choose what works for you. Your son is 1 to 50?
Age does make a difference when planning a party; so does the number that you invited.
Reply:mum used to put chicken/salmon spread in the sandwiches...cheese...tuna...ham and cucumber and of course jam and choc spread!! xx
Reply:try tiny sandwich made on mini buns like ham and cheese. turkey and cheese , tuna sandwichs. They sell small rolls in the grocery story, use them also macaroni salad goes good with them with potato chips. you can if you like do PB%26amp;J sandwichs and cut them on a angle. Kids are pretty easy .Or one sure shot do pigs in the blanket .
