Teeth fillings?

I recently went to see my dentist for not only a regular annual check up but also becuz i couldnt eat anything sweet , or drink anything hot .. just like almost everybody i hate goin to the dentist, but anyway , i went and she told me i had cavities which i obviously know.. therefore she suggested that had some fillings added ... i had the gray one , i guess the refer to them as ciment filling ( correct me if im wrong ) but yeh she removed them and replaced them with the clear ones, which is good since ppl cannot see them but bothers me due to the fact that i cannot see them so i forget sometimes that they are there.. i have to go back next wednesday for the left side ,, so what i wanted to know is this.. i eat some sweets like chocolate and i noticed that it was still hurting, i ate on the side with the fillin becuz i m afraid of using the one without the filling , but it hurt%26gt; i dont understand.. the filling that i have , isnt it for that reason ? for my teeth not 2 hurt me ????

Teeth fillings?
Don't be silly teeth fillings don't hurt !

They just feel abit funny when they go in.
Reply:you get a filling when they take a chunk of your tooth off where the cavity was. the filling is to fill up the space so that air doesnt get too close to the root and hurt it. and so that nobody notices the chunk missing.

mine stopped hurting after the second day.
Reply:i've had filling to but it's normally for your teeth 2 be tender i remember my doc said the filling were still going to be sensetive to things for about a month maybe thats the case with you to
Reply:The dentist has to drill out the decay, this removes enamel from the tooth and leaves less enamel between the nerve and the air. The filling the dentist put in replaces the enamel but the nerve is still "upset" (for lack of a better word) and will probably be upset for a while. When you go back to your dentist, if the tooth still aches, mention it to her and see if she can suggest something. You may also want to change to a toothpaste made for sensitive teeth. Good luck...just had a crown replaced today so I am very aware of tooth pain!
